It is always difficult to choose just one person as the winner, as there are so many amazing people and inspirational stories at Bedford. We also seek to identify the individual for whom Bedford has been life changing.

Helen's Story

The Bedford Heart & Soul Award recipient for 2011 was Helen Smith.

Helen began working at Bedford in 1970 as a member of the finance and administration team. In her 41 years, she has become known for her friendly demeanor and determination. Despite mobility issues, Helen continues to live on her own and drive to work daily.

Helen is the perfect example of someone contributing positively to Bedford while using its services as a platform for self-empowerment.
