Success Stories
More South Australians than ever before have support to find employment, personal achievement and success, through CareerSystems.
Steven
Steven has been with CareerSystems since 2007. During this time he has worked hard to develop his skills and self-confidence, allowing him to find employment with Bob Burns Blinds at St. Marys.
Steven joined Bob Burns Blinds as a team member in November last year. In the initial stages of Steven’s employment, CareerSystems were able to provide full time support for him, ensuring that Steven would find the position both interesting and fulfilling. As he learnt the requirements of his job, he developed the skills necessary to complete his tasks. Some of the work that Steven has been involved with includes sorting and distributing security doors stock in the workshop and other areas and keeping the workshop areas safe and free of rubbish.
Since his time with us, Steven has proved to be a valuable part of the team. CareerSystems still make regular contact to monitor Steven’s progress, but his great work ethic and fast developing skills have meant the contact time has become less since Steven first started. This has been helped significantly by the understanding and encouraging attitude of Steven’s supervisor, Shaun, and fellow workmates. They have embraced and welcomed him into their work place. Shaun says “I am very happy with the placement of Steven into the business and the way Steven goes about his duties”, and Sandy our company manager has also endorsed Steven’s employment as a “positive outcome for us”.
Steven is now being given tasks that in the early stages of his employment would not have been expected. He has developed initiative to act on his own choosing while still completing his primary duties as per his initial placement.
Steven is a fantastic example that, with an empathetic work place, and the right client placement and support, nothing is impossible.
