James Watson

James enjoys his job at Kmart almost as much as he loves playing video games. James works in the Sound and Vision department where he has fantastic product knowledge of the computer games he shelves and prices.

Derek, James’ CareerSystems support worker, says “James has learnt his role very quickly. He knows so much about the products and has picked up the technology very quickly.”

Darren Antich

Darren has worked at O’Connell’s Market Meat in the Adelaide Central Markets for over four years and says it is “an excellent place to work.” Darren’s job involves bagging up customer orders, sealing packs of meat and setting out the counter.  Darren takes great pride in learning new skills and says that doing his job well brings him a great sense of achievement. Darren describes his boss, Tony O’Connell, as “one of the nicest guys ever” – and it seems that the feeling is mutual.

Tony says “watching Darren enjoy his work gives me a real buzz. He’s such a good worker. He makes a real effort to remember everything I teach him. The best thing is seeing his face light up when his friends or family come by and see him hard at work.”

Kylie Fatchen

With assistance from CareerSystems, Kylie began work at Matilda’s Childcare Centre in Littlehampton in 2007. “Working here is so much fun, I love working with the toddlers,” said Kylie.

Kylie’s boss, centre owner Sandy Munro said, “Everybody learns differently and I’m so pleased to be able to give Kylie this opportunity – she is genuinely passionate about working with children. Kylie has come such a long way in the past year. With ongoing support from CareerSystems, her capabilities and confidence have grown so much.”

Lesley, Kylie’s CareerSystems Employment Consultant agrees, “Kylie is a natural for this job. Watching her interact with the children is just magical – it’s brought out so much of her personality."
