Community Housing

Live independently, in the community

HousingLiving independently in a home of your own is the goal for many people. It can be difficult to find a home in the first place and then also difficult to live independently.

To help you gain the confidence, skills and knowledge necessary to live independently, we offer a life skills training programme that addresses areas such as:

  • Money management/budgeting/paying bills
  • Home management - cleaning, cooking, washing, shopping etc.
  • Communication
  • Personal presentation
  • Issues relating to interpersonal relationships and sexuality
  • Accessing community based services and activities
  • Choices in recreation and community services

We are helping to address the need for independent, community based housing options for people with a disability, through the ‘Homes for 100’ programme and also with the office of Community Partnerships & Growth. The 'Homes for 100' programme is a partnership between Bedford and the state Government of South Australia. At present over 50 people are supported through Bedford community based housing options in and around Adelaide. We are also planning to offer regional housing options.
