Community Housing
Live independently, in your own home
Living independently in a home of your own is the goal for many people. It can be difficult to find a home in the first place and then also difficult to live independently.
To help you gain the confidence, skills and knowledge necessary to live independently, we offer a life skills training programme that addresses areas such as:
- Money management/budgeting
- Home management - cleaning, cooking, washing, etc.
- Communication
- Personal presentation
- Issues relating to interpersonal relationships and sexuality
- Accessing community based services and activities
- Shopping
- Cooking
- Recreation
We are helping to address the need for independent, community based housing options for people with a disability, through the ‘Homes for 100’ programme and also with the office for Community Housing. The 'Homes for 100' programme is a partnership between Bedford and the state Government of South Australia. At present 53 people are supported through Bedford community based housing options in and around Adelaide. We are also planning to offer regional housing options.
