Suitable alternatives for housing
We are helping South Australians with a disability gain access to supported, community based accommodation thanks to our ‘Homes for 100’ programme, which is run in partnership with the South Australian state government.
The programme, aimed at people on Bedford and Disability SA’s official waiting lists, will start to address the enormous unmet need and offer suitable alternatives.
We plan to build 35 new homes using the latest environmentally-friendly designs and building techniques, to house a minimum of 100 people who are registered on these waiting lists. However, there may be potential for the programme to grow beyond the original vision because of the clear demand.
Seven community-based homes have already been built, with the balance expected over the next five years – about one-in-five of which will be built in regional South Australia.
