29 January – 12 February 2009The TAFE graduation ceremonies to be held across the state from 29 January to 12 February are for students who have participated in the ‘Abilities for All’ programme.
‘Abilities for All’ is Australia’s first ever state-wide programme to provide nationally accredited workplace training to people with a disability. Bedford and TAFE SA have partnered to deliver this vocational education initiative, thanks to funding from the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST).
Over 160 people will receive certificates in total across the state. Students from Barkuma, Barossa Enterprises, Compass, Gambier Contracts, Minda, Orana, and Bedford have completed studies in Horticulture, Laundry Operations, Business, Engineering and Furniture Making.
Employers and students have both gained from the programme. For the employer, this training provides a more skilled and flexible workforce, leading to improved quality and productivity outcomes. Students gain transferable skills, a nationally recognised TAFE qualification and of course, enhanced self esteem.
The events recognise the remarkable achievements of our employees and provides the opportunity for us all to formally acknowledge and reward their efforts.
