Bedford-backed social enterprise GreenInc has proudly delivered our latest landscape construction project at Tonsley Village, transforming the site into a vibrant, green community hub in partnership with residential developer Peet Limited.
A standout feature is the Charger play structure which is an impressive 400-kilogram piece designed by VPG Innovation and expertly installed by our skilled GreenInc team. Honouring Tonsley’s legacy as the former home of Chrysler, where the iconic Charger was manufactured in the 1970s, the play structure stands as a striking tribute to the site’s industrial past and a symbol of its vibrant transformation into a thriving community space.
Tonsley Village is now a flourishing space that honours the site’s rich history and enhances local biodiversity.

Bringing Tonsley to Life with Green Infrastructure
As part of Bedford’s commitment to sustainability and inclusive social impact, the GreenInc team has delivered comprehensive landscape works at Tonsley Village by transforming the site into a thriving, green community that supports both environmental wellbeing and social inclusion.
The team installed over 4,600 square metres of premium instant turf, more than 670 trees, and 11,000 shrubs and native plants. Additionally, approximately 3,900 square metres of mulched garden beds were constructed in line with project specifications, contributing to the site’s long-term functionality.
To ensure long-term sustainability, a water-efficient irrigation system was installed to support healthy plant growth while conserving water which is a critical consideration in South Australia’s climate.
These natural elements play a crucial role in improving environmental health. Trees and turf act as natural air filters by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen helping to moderate surface and air temperatures, especially during the warmer months.
The vegetation also contributes to stormwater management, reducing runoff and preventing erosion, while the carefully selected grasses and shrubs improve soil structure and support local biodiversity. This carefully constructed landscape provides vital habitats and food sources for birds, insects, and small mammals, fostering a stronger connection between the community and the natural environment.
Advancing Social Inclusion Through Meaningful Employment
Through GreenInc, Bedford is reshaping social enterprise employment by enabling individuals to build skills, earn a sustainable income and contribute meaningfully to their communities. This commitment was clearly demonstrated in our work at Tonsley Village, where the team not only delivered high-quality landscape construction but also helped build confidence and foster a strong sense of community and connection.
The development manager at Peet Limited acknowledges the value of partnering with GreenInc and has the following to share:
“Working with GreenInc on Tonsley Village has allowed us to achieve much more than exceptional landscape construction. It has given us the opportunity to promote meaningful employment and contribute to developing a space that values innovation, sustainability and social impact. Their unwavering commitment to quality and mission-driven work aligns seamlessly with our vision for fostering community growth.”
A Partnership with Lasting Impact
GreenInc is extremely proud to continue their longstanding partnership with Peet Limited, initially established by APG, Bedford’s garden maintenance business, which expanded significantly in 2023, when GreenInc was borne. APG continues to provide outstanding ongoing care, ensuring the streetscapes and parks of Tonsley Village remain vibrant and well-maintained.
