Bedford is excited to be expanding its offering in the South East by transforming the timber mill at Mount Gambier to accommodate the addition of a new Day Options centre for the region.

The new, purpose-built area will be named the Learning and Experiences Hub, and will have a focus on skill-based learning. Themes will include life, living, work, and personal interests.

Programs will be run in the large, custom-made teaching kitchen, art space, IT suite and woodworking space. Clients can also access a chill-out room and participate in experiences that go ‘out and about’ in the local region.

Similar to Bedford’s other Day Options and Experiences sites across the state, programs will be tailored to suit individual client needs and interests, with activities running both weekdays and weekends.

Bedford has been working with the local community and service providers to develop programs for people living with a disability in the region and have found that there is a need for skill-based learning to support people with disability to increase their independence and create career pathways.

Construction is well underway and the space is expected to be open from late August, with an official opening event for the community taking place in late September.
