Stanley (Stan) Cleary, who works with APG North, is achieving a couple of significant milestones during May, and is rightfully proud of both of them.

The first is a mighty sporting achievement; Stan has been playing footy for 15 years for Salisbury Football Club, and two weeks ago he notched up his 150th game! Backing this up at the end of May, Stan reached his 18-year anniversary working at APG – outstanding careers in both work and sport.

“I love my footy,” says Stan, who started playing because he just wanted to ‘get out and be active.’ Stan is an all-rounder on the field, though he plays mostly midfield. He wears guernsey #9, the same as his favourite Crows player, Rory Sloane, who is also a mid-fielder.

Aside from his 150 game milestone, Stan recalls a particularly memorable career highlight when he kicked 3 goals in the curtain-raiser ahead of the Crows v Port Magpies game at Alberton Oval, “Crows are my favourite team, so that was a big day.”

Stan’s supervisor at APG, Jayne Secker, would certainly describe him as an all-rounder with his work too! She says Stan is a valuable team member with exceptional brush-cutting skills and a high standard of edging. “Stan is confident and driven, and over the years he has contributed to great success with APG North and continues to be a reliable, friendly team-player,” Jayne says.

Stan enjoys the work at APG, especially ‘working outdoors.’ “It keeps me active, and I love working with my mates,” Stan says. When he’s not working or out on the footy field, his new ‘Smoodle’ puppy, Snowy, keeps him busy.

Congratulations Stan on your stellar working and sporting achievements, and hope you have fun getting to know your new puppy!
