Bedford Future Pathway Update - 17 November 2025

Bedford Outdoor Projects

The Bedford Outdoor Projects program offers participants valuable volunteer opportunities focused on environmental conservation and skill development. By aligning with NDIS goals, Bedford Outdoors Projects ensures participants engage in meaningful activities that promote personal growth and employment readiness. Through hands-on volunteering, participants will contribute to their community while building a foundation of work-related skills for future employment opportunities.

Bedford Outdoor Projects connects participants with conservation projects through our valued partnerships with National Parks & Wildlife, SA Water, Forestry SA, and multiple Friends of Parks groups across our state's national parks and conservation areas.

The diverse array of activities include:

  • Trail maintenance and habitat restoration in national parks
  • Weed control initiatives at SA Water locations
  • Construction and monitoring of wildlife habitats
  • Native plant propagation
  • Supporting wildlife rescue and habitat preservation efforts

Benefits for Participants

Our program is designed to align with NDIS goals while providing valuable real-world experiences:

  • Practical Work Skills: Participants develop conservation, construction, teamwork capabilities, safety awareness and other work readiness skills that enhance employability
  • Personal Growth: Activities foster independence, confidence, and self-reliance
  • Social Connection: Group projects reduce isolation through meaningful peer interaction
  • Sense of Achievement: Visible project outcomes create pride and satisfaction
  • Community Integration: Making positive contributions to local conservation efforts
  • Giving back to the community: Contributing to the greater good can lead to increased self-confidence, a sense of purpose and personal growth.

Each participant's progress is measured through personalised, adaptable assessments that track individual development at their own pace.
