On 11 January, 2024 the Federal Government released the Commonwealth, State and Territory Supported Employment Plan that includes 70 actions to be taken to boost employment opportunities for people with disability with high support needs.

The plan focusses on providing people with informed choice and control about their employment, as well as genuine opportunities to work in a wide range of settings from Australian Disability Enterprises (ADEs), social enterprises, in open employment or in their own business, as capacity allows.

Bedford CEO Myron Mann was asked to comment about the Plan on national radio, and says that the recommended actions are a step in the right direction. “The plan offers more opportunities for people with disability to earn higher and fairer wages, provides more pathways to open employment and to training.”
